Things That Go Bump in the Night...(and Day): Sleep and Paranormal Experiences
11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Dr. Christine Simmonds-Moore of UWG’s Psychology Department will present the program, Things that Go Bump in the Night . . . (and Day): Sleep and Paranormal Experiences on Tuesday, March 3, at 11:00 a.m. at Ingram Library.

Subjective paranormal experiences – which include extrasensory perception and perceiving ghosts and apparitions – are part of being human and have been reported in every culture throughout human history.  Dr. Simmonds-Moore will explore the intriguing relationships between sleep and sleep-related states of consciousness and a range of subjective paranormal experiences.  She will also discuss why some people may be more prone to having these experiences – which can occur during the day as well as at night.

Dr. Simmonds-Moore, a native of the United Kingdom, earned her Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Northampton.  She came to the United States in 2009 and joined the UWG Psychology Department in 2011.  Dr. Simmonds-Moore has worked on a number of research projects related to this topic and is the editor of Exceptional Experience and Health: Essays on Mind, Body and Human Potential.  She is the co-author of a textbook on Anomalistic Psychology and is the current vice president of the Parapsychology Association.

This program is sponsored by Ingram Library’s Penelope Melson Society.  For further information, visit www.westga.edu/library or contact chendric@westga.edu or (678) 839-5337.
