Georgia Poet Laureate Reads at UWG

David Bottoms, the poet laureate of Georgia, is the author of eight collections of poetry, two novels, and a book of essays and interviews.  His most recent book of poems is We Almost Disappear (Copper Canyon, 2012).  He will read with his former student Dr. Katie Chaple, a professor in the English Department at the University of West Georgia.  Her first collection of poems, Pretty Little Rooms, was published by Press 53 in 2011
Homecoming Rally and Forum with Republican Presidential Candidate Newt Gingrich

UWG College Republicans will be hosting a Homecoming Rally and Forum with Republican Presidential Candidate Newt Gingrich on Tuesday, February 28, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., in the gymnasium next door to the Campus Center. This event is offered free of charge to the UWG community and the general public. Newt Gingrich began his career as a history Professor at UWG. The mayor of Carrollton and various other political figures and dignitaries will be in attendance at this event, and the mayor will present Dr. Gingrich with a key to the City. The forum will include a Q&A session with Dr. Gingrich in which students and others can ask the candidate questions.
