Valerie Zimany: Porcelain Fever art exhibition (Multi-Day Event)
The Bobick Gallery (Humanities first floor) presents a ceramic exhibition featuring work by South Carolina artist Valerie Zimany. Zimany's work was developed in conjunction with creative research focused on Japanese ceramics and decorative arts. As an artist formally trained in Japan, Zimany's work appropriates traditional practice to bring to light its ability to reexamine modern presumptions of culture, identity, and history – and reinterpret them into works of original, idiosyncratic expression. Artist Talk on April 3 at 5pm in Hum203. Gallery reception to follow.

Attend this presentation to learn more, participate in the conversation, and come away with a different perception of the emerging threats, opportunities, and where we are headed as a society.

EGADS (English Graduate Association of Dedicated Students) began hosting an annual community charity event last spring. At this event, both Drs. and professors of the English Department are selected to give a comedic reading, as well as participate in various "challenges" throughout the event. Last year, we raised over $700 dollars and collected around 120 childrens (and young adult) books, all of which were donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Carrollton. This year, all proceeds will be given to Alice's House (a local children's shelter).
